Blood and Water

I plotted the emigrant points of my ancestors on a map. It revealed a certain pattern; most of my family lived near the water. Water has guided my personal moves from the great lakes to the east coast to the west coast. Finding I had a commonality with centuries of ancestors inspired the poem Blood and Water. This interactive sculpture is in the form of a  large shell. As you enter it, you are surrounded thinly veiled walls and the sound track of the spoken poem. It is recorded in four voices, dialects from my ancestor countries, layered with the sound of waves crashing.
