Taking Off the Gloves is an altar in the form of an AR-15 Assault rifle. Thirty little white gloves, frozen in bronze, patinated white, hands-up hover above. The metal gun is pierced with 30 bullet holes, light emitting from within, the gloves reflect their gilded gold leaf insides. 30 represents the average number of lives lost each day to gun violence in the US. The sacred altar glows, shadow cast below, transcending the violence.
