Exciting News: Three New Public Art Commissions!
I’m thrilled to be working on three inspiring public art commissions that reflect my ongoing commitment to community, inclusivity, and place-based storytelling.
🌿 Washington State Arts Commission – Lower Columbia College, Longview, WA
My newest commission is for a multi-use building at Lower Columbia College that will serve Early Language Learners, as well as programs in CAD, 3D printing, and welding. Drawing on the phenomenon of the Mother Tree, the work connects Longview’s lumber legacy to the life of the college, weaving a broader narrative of ecology, renewal, and belonging.
⚓ Port of Seattle – Fishermen’s Terminal
Slated to open in 2028, this project at Fishermen’s Terminal dives deep into the region’s fishing heritage. I’m incorporating materials such as fishing nets and neon to honor both the working waterfront and the Indigenous fishing communities that have shaped this place for generations.
🧬 Greenbridge – Affordable Housing Community
This ongoing project continues my dedication to affordable housing and cultural inclusion. A welcoming poem in the stairwell greets residents of this vibrant immigrant community, while a totemic double helix sculpture at the top of the stairs symbolizes the site’s global connections and shared humanity. Written bronze script in the seven languages spoken on site weave words into the helix like ladders and connection and the strength found in diversity.
